These cameras all shoot in magnificent 4K and have a range of features to achieve great results.

The cameras also span an array of price points so there is no doubt one for everyone.

To help others enjoy the ride and capture their own speedy adventures, I have reviewed all five.

These reviews will give you a great insight into what to expect if you are looking for a camera for motorcycle videos.

And if you are a complete beginner, I have also included a guide on how to buy the best camera for motorcycle video.

This highlights exactly what you should be looking for and considering during your search.

So let’s stop stalling and accelerate straight into the information.

Best Camera for Motorcycle Video – Reviews

If you’re looking for the best camera for shooting motorcycle videos, look no further.

I have found five of the best action cameras on the market that are perfect for this job.

GoPro MAX – Best Camera For Motorcycle Video Overall

GoPro-MAX

The GoPro MAX is one of the most impressive action cameras on the market today.

GoPro has packed an incredible amount of cutting-edge technology into an extremely compact body making it the dream motorcycle companion.

Firstly, the GoPro MAX features a dual lens camera.

The camera has one lens on the front and one lens on the back, both of which capture stunning 6K video in HERO mode.

However, with its dual lens technology, the MAX also shoots 360 videos.

360 videos are captured with both cameras in 6K which are then stitched together in 5.6K.

Both modes capture stunning, crisp and detailed footage which can perfectly showcase your motorcycle rides.

To further enhance your video, the camera features HyperSmooth technology.

Capturing a motorcycle ride can be a bumpy experience.

But with HyperSmooth, GoPro’s exceptional image stabilization, video is smooth and shake free.

In addition, the GoPro MAX has incredible time lapse and slow motion modes.

It also has four digital lenses which are perfect for wide angle shots.

Plus, it is waterproof up to 16ft, perfect for rides in all weather conditions and speeding through puddles.

It is hard to find any negatives with the GoPro MAX.

I was blown away by this camera’s incredible capabilities.

It is a truly perfect action camera and an excellent choice for motorcycle videos.

Gopro Max

Video Resolution

The GoPro max is a dual lens camera with one camera on the front and one camera on the back. Both cameras capture in stunning 6K resolution for the most beautiful and crisp footage. With dual lenses, this camera can also capture 360 videos that are captured in 6K and stitched together for a 5.6K resolution result. You can also live stream from the GoPro MAX in 1080p.

Image Stabilization

Featuring GoPro’s impressive HyperSmooth technology, the MAX is one of the most advanced cameras for image stabilization. Footage is smooth, level and shake free.

Auto Focus

Great autofocus technology that delivers crisp and detailed footage. Reframe mode locks focus throughout action shots.

Slow Motion and Time Lapse

Can capture 2x slow motion in 360 mode or at 60fps in HERO mode. Also has a dedicated MAX Time Warp setting which shoots smooth crisp time lapses in both 360 and HERO mode.

Weather Sealing

This camera is waterproof up to 16ft and made with a durable design to withstand the elements and action.

Battery Life

Decent battery life lasting up to 85 minutes in 360 mode and 105 minutes in HERO mode. The battery does however drain quite quickly in time lapse mode.

“The GoPro MAX is the most impressive action camera I have ever used. It can capture my motorcycle trips in 360 and stunning resolution capturing every element of the adventure.”

GoPro HERO 8 – Best Camera For Motorcycle Video for Stability

GoPro HERO8 review

The GoPro HERO 8 is one of the most advanced action cameras you can buy.

However, as it has been succeeded by later models, its price tag has dropped.

It is incredibly budget-friendly without compromising on the features and technology GoPro is renowned for.

This camera shoots in stunning 4K creating incredibly sharp and beautiful videos.

Boasting GoPro’s HyperSmooth technology, the shake from your motorcycle rides is minimized to create a fluid and level video.

With its tough and waterproof design, this camera can also withstand unpredictable weather conditions and any rough adventure.

This makes it perfect for motorcycle rides in wet weather and off-road.

It also features TimeWarp for captivating time lapses and can capture up to 8x slow mo.

The only downside to the HERO 8 is the limited battery life.

Unless you head out on a short motorcycle ride, it is unlikely to last long enough to capture your entire adventure.

If affordability is a key component for you, the GoPro HERO 8 is an incredible option.

I was seriously impressed with the results it could produce for such a bargain price.

GoPro Hero 8

Video Resolution

Captures magnificent 4K video. You can also live stream in 1080p.

Image Stabilization

Features GoPro’s state-of-the-art HyperSmooth technology. HyperSmooth minimizes camera shake for smooth, level video footage.

Auto Focus

The HERO 8 does not have autofocus and instead has a fixed focus lens. Whilst this could be seen as a downside, it seems to remain focused at all times from a minimum distance of 1ft.

Slow Motion and Time Lapse

TimeWarp captures time lapses beautifully with an additional NightLapse mode which captures changing night scenes in stunning 4K. The HERO 8 can also capture 8 x slow motion in 1080p.

Weather Sealing

Waterproof up to 33ft and built tough to withstand any conditions.

Battery Life

Only lasts up to 81 minutes. Great for short trips but won’t last for any long rides.

“The GoPro HERO 8 boasts the best of GoPro’s incredible technology at a bargain price tag. I think this is the best camera for motorcycle videos in terms of affordability.”

YI 4K Action Camera – Best Camera For Motorcycle Video for Features

YI 4K Action Camera review

As the name suggests, the YI 4K action camera captures in 4K.

It produces incredibly sharp and detailed video that immortalizes your motorcycle adventure.

It also has great image stabilization that takes the bounce out of your bumpy rides.

The YI 4K has a range of built-in lenses including wide, medium and narrow fields of view.

This includes a 155° super wide angle lens so you can capture the entire road and scenery whilst riding.

Plus, it has a great time lapse feature and can capture up to 8x slow motion.

Whilst it does not have auto focus, the camera’s fixed focus lens ensures the shot is always in crisp, clear focus.

Unfortunately, this camera does not have any sort of weather sealing.

You therefore need to be careful about which conditions you head out in.

However, this camera does have an impressive two hour battery life which is the best of all five cameras.

If you head out for long rides and want a camera that will last the duration, this is the one for you.

YI 4K Action Camera

Video Resolution

Magnificent 4K resolution.

Image Stabilization

Has a built-in 3-axis gyroscope for smooth, fluid video. It also has real-time motion detection that enhances the overall image quality.

Auto Focus

This camera has a fixed focus lens which always remains focused.

Slow Motion and Time Lapse

Up to 8x slow motion and a dedicated time lapse mode.

Weather Sealing

Does not have any sort of weather sealing.

Battery Life

With a two hour battery life, this camera can capture great distances of motorcycle rides.

“I was impressed that the YI 4K Action Camera battery lasted for my entire motorcycle ride. Most action cameras cut out halfway through.”

AKASO V50 Elite – Best Camera For Motorcycle Video for Versatility

AKASO V50 Elite review

If you are just getting started with capturing your motorcycle adventures and want a cheap camera, the AKASO V50 Elite is a go-to.

With a price tag of under $100, this camera is highly affordable and great for shooting amateur video.

At such a great price, there are some areas you will have to compromise on.

But if you have no need for professional quality production and an extensive range of features, the V50 Elite is a great choice.

It shoots in impressive 4K resolution which is remarkable for a camera at this price point.

Image quality is reduced for slow motion and time lapse but still achieves impressive results.

The image stabilization is also decent.

Whilst it does not completely eliminate camera shake, it does reduce it and produce relatively smooth video.

Due to the low price tag, the camera does not have any weather sealing.

However, this is not necessarily a negative because if this is important to you, you can purchase weatherproof housing.

It also is extremely easy to use which makes it a great choice for beginners.

For the price, I was really impressed with this camera.

I think it is a great introductory camera for shooting motorcycle videos.

AKASO V50 Elite

Video Resolution

Captures in 4K up to 60fps.

Image Stabilization

The V50 Elite has decent image stabilization. Whilst it does not compare to higher-end action cameras, some camera shake is eliminated and video is relatively smooth.

Auto Focus

Great autofocus that keeps focused once locked.

Slow Motion and Time Lapse

Records slow motion in 1080p up to 120fps and a dedicated time lapse mode that works efficiently.

Weather Sealing

No weather sealing on the camera but weatherproof housing can be purchased.

Battery Life

Lasts up to one hour when shooting in 4K. Whilst this is not brilliant, it is decent for the price point.

“I think the AKASO V50 Elite is a great option for beginners as it is incredibly user-friendly and super affordable.”

AKASO EK7000 Pro 4K Action Camera – Best Camera For Motorcycle Video for Affordability

AKASO EK7000 Pro

For an even more budget-friendly option, look no further than the AKASO EK700 Pro 4K Action Camera.

This camera is the cheapest action camera of the five yet still performs.

It is astonishing that a camera of this price shoots in 4K so that is a seriously impressive element.

It means that you don’t have to break the bank to shoot insane video quality.

The image stabilization works but not to the standard of higher-end models and you will still find a lot of camera shake on bumpy rides.

It does not work in 4K so you would need to shoot in 1080p for a smoother result.

It also doesn’t feature an autofocus system.

Whilst the focusing still works great on still images, it struggles with motion as there is no tracking feature.

As AKASO’s entry level camera, the EK7000 Pro 4K is just that, entry level.

It is an excellent choice for beginners and those on a tight budget allowing you to still achieve stunning 4K video.

But if you are looking for a more professional finish, this may not be the perfect fit.

AKASO EK7000 Pro 4K Action Camera

Video Resolution

Incredible 4K resolution.

Image Stabilization

Has electronic image stabilization but isn’t the most effective as it only works in 1080p.

Auto Focus

No autofocus.

Slow Motion and Time Lapse

Shoots slow motion in 1080p and 720p. It also has a time lapse video function that works great.

Weather Sealing

Does not have any weather sealing but you can purchase waterproof housing as an optional extra.

Battery Life

Great battery life that lasts longer than 90 minutes.

“Considering the AKASO EK7000 Pro 4K Action Camera is the cheapest camera of the five, I found it performed a great job and I’d highly recommend it to those on a budget.”

How to Buy the Best Camera for Motorcycle Videos

If you’re unsure where to start when looking for a camera for motorcycle videos, don’t worry, I’m here to help you out.

When in search of the best camera for motorcycle videos, the following features should be considered above all others.

Video Resolution

Video resolution is crucial for shooting motorcycle videos as it directly impacts the quality and clarity of the footage.

Higher video resolutions, such as 4K and above, provide greater detail and sharpness.

Crisp resolution captures the fast-paced action, intricate details of the motorcycle and the scenic landscapes with more realism.

It also offers flexibility in post-production allowing for cropping, zooming, and overall better editing capabilities.

All five cameras reviewed above shoot stunning 4K video whilst the GoPro MAX takes it a step further and levels up to 6K.

Any of these cameras will capture every detail of your motorcycle ride.

Image Stabilization

One of the most important things to look for in a camera for motorcycle videos is image stabilization.

Image Stabilization

Image stabilization is essential for shooting motorcycle videos as it helps counteract the vibrations and movements encountered while riding.

With the constant motion and bumps on the road, a camera with effective image stabilization ensures you have smoother and steadier footage.

It does this by reducing unwanted camera shake and making the end result appear fluid and level.

Image stabilization minimizes distortions and delivers professional-looking videos.

It is absolutely crucial for professionals but also helps amateurs achieve better results.

Auto Focus

Auto focus is vital for shooting motorcycle videos as it allows for quick and accurate focusing on moving subjects.

When capturing fast-paced action, such as motorcycles on the road, maintaining sharp focus is essential to showcase the details.

A camera with reliable auto focus ensures that the subject remains in focus even as it moves closer or farther away.

With fast and precise autofocus, motorcycle videos can showcase the speed, agility and intricacies of the ride.

It helps you to capture every thrilling moment with clarity and precision.

Slow Motion and Time Lapse

Slow motion and time lapse are important features for shooting motorcycle videos as they add visual impact and creative storytelling elements to the footage.

Slow motion helps emphasize details that may go unnoticed at normal speed.

In motorcycle videos, it also enhances the sense of speed.

On the other hand, time lapse compresses long periods of time into shorter sequences.

This creates a beautiful effect that showcases the changing scenery, weather conditions and the overall ride experience.

Both add a unique and cinematic quality to motorcycle videos, enhancing the viewer’s experience and immersing them in the thrill of the ride.

Weather Sealing

Weather sealing should be considered when shooting motorcycle videos as it protects the camera from the elements and allows you to capture footage in various weather conditions.

A camera with effective weather sealing safeguards against moisture, dust and debris  ensuring its durability and functionality even in challenging environments.

It provides peace of mind allowing you to focus on the journey without worrying about potential damage to your camera.

Although you may not plan to ride in the rain, weather can be unpredictable and you never know if a downpour may happen during your ride.

You also may encounter puddles or wet road that could splash up onto your camera.

You may want your camera to have weather sealing just in case rather than risk any damage.

If an action camera does not have weather sealing, it often has weatherproof housing that you can purchase as an optional extra.

This is essentially a case that performs the same job as weather sealing in a camera protecting it from moisture and dust.

Battery Life

Good battery life is essential for shooting motorcycle videos as it ensures that the camera remains powered and ready to capture the entire journey.

Motorcycle rides can be long and adventurous, and having a camera with a reliable and long-lasting battery allows for uninterrupted filming.

A flat battery can disrupt the recording process causing you to miss memorable moments.

With a great battery life, you can confidently document your entire ride without worrying about running out of power.

Best Camera For Motorcycle Video – My Verdict

If you are looking for the ultimate camera for motorcycle cameras, there is no doubt that the GoPro MAX is the one.

This camera blew me with its performance and technology winning my top spot for the best camera for motorcycle videos overall.

It records in stunning 6K which is phenomenal and also shoots 360 videos for more creative and captivating content.

With GoPro’s HyperSmooth technology, videos are super smooth and fluid with no camera shake.

Plus, its slow motion and time lapse settings work like a dream.

For similar technology to the MAX at a more affordable price tag, the GoPro HERO 8 is a great alternative.

But if affordability is a key component of your decision making, the AKASO V50 Elite and AKASO EK7000 Pro 4K are two action cameras that are extremely budget-friendly yet still perform.

As all five cameras shoot in at least 4K, you can achieve exceptional quality video with all five.

Enhanced features come with higher end options but all of these cameras achieve great results.
